Incoming! đź’Ąđź’Ąđź’Ą
When we tell ourselves we “shouldn’t eat this” “this is a bad food” “I can never have this again” what happens?
Uh huh. We crave it even more and probably binge on it.
Try this: Permission Practice
First decide what you will do when you’re done with your food.
Get a pretty plate or bowl, and a nice fork or spoon.
Put a serving of whatever looks and smells yummy to you in/on it.
SIT DOWN.
Smile and look at it, smell it.
Pick up the fork/spoon and take a bite.
How does it feel? Crunchy? Soft? Chewy? Enjoy the chewing and taste.
Swallow and do it again, slowly enjoying and appreciating it.
Listen to your mind/body - do you want more now, or do you want to save it for later? (HEY! If you want more! Go for it!)
Tell yourself throughout eating it “I can always have more tomorrow.” Because it’s TRUE!
When you feel done, put the stuff away, and go do the thing you planned to do after you ate.
While you put away the stuff, think grateful thoughts about that lovely food experience, and repeat that you can always have more tomorrow if you choose.
Food is meant to be enjoyed, experienced, and appreciated. Let’s not make any food “bad.”
