A hot Summer day near St Just Cornwall. My grandfather was a tin miner at the Geevor mine and he left for South Dakota US when tin mining slumped. My father was born in South Dakota and lived his early life in St Just. He then went to Blackpool to meet and old army friend who had been on the Normandy Landings and met my mother there.
I always remember the artistic environment as I spent many years in St Just on holiday.
Few would think it would become a hub of great British Painting.
I was fortunate to take a long walk with Alan Davie on the rocks near St Just one day..little was said..a great encounter with an inspirational man who loved jazz and anything unorthodox.
