Woke up like this. Yep, I tested positive for COVID-19 and here at the hospital being looked after. Everyone here is super nice and Australia’s healthcare system is great. After hearing news that there were multiple positive cases from a wedding I attended I went straight to the ER and demanded to get a test, even though I had NO SYMPTOMS when I got tested. I had a very mild sore throat for a day and a little achy after surfing for 4+ hours, which went away quite quickly within a day. I thought it was just me feeling tired from surfing. Had the test done and developed a little fever AFTER the test and been fine the last few days, just a little dry in the nose. Mentally not so great, I’m claustrophobic and don’t do well in confined spaces. One thing that has lifted my spirits is video chats with friends to keep me from feeling trapped. I know everyone else is feeling the same in quarantine, and shelter in place, so DM me I don’t have my US phone number. Or if you have any suggestions of online workouts/things to watch. I’ve got a lot of time. Please pray for a negative result back ASAP as they are grounding flights soon and I won’t be able to get back home🙏🏼. As someone who had literally the slightest of symptoms, this is real, and you can easily be an asymptomatic carrier. For the sake of those who are high risk the new normal is necessary to flatten the curve, as much as it sucks and I want to go home, I feel for those who are truly sick. It’s also important to be kind and empathetic, xenophobia and racism is a virus and has no place. Please stay home, it’s the only place I want to be right now and I can’t get there 😔
