Sorgir (Sorrows) is a concept album in two parts. The two parts are called Sagnir and Svipir. The first part Sagnir (Tales) contains four songs and each one tells a different story of misfortune, tragedy and death. The second part Svipir (Ghosts) also contains four songs and tells the same stories but from a very different point of view. It is safe to say that the atmosphere on Sorgir is very dark, cold and heavy. Two tales of the same event can be very different depending on the perspective of the storyteller. On Sorgir we wanted to explore that with music. With the folk influenced Sverðið versus the crushing heaviness of Gangári, with the fast and thrashy Brúnin versus the cold and dark Móri, we wanted to explore the two sides of a single story and how different they can be. After making four studio albums that we really really really like it is fantastic to be able to say that we honestly feel like Sorgir is our tighest work yet and we cannot wait to release it to the world.
