With grateful hearts, my wife and I are celebrating our daughter today on #WorldPrematurityDay. Every year, almost 15 million babies are born too soon. Our daughter was one of them. 7 weeks ago our little babe made her entrance into this world. At just 26 weeks and five days, she had a lot of growing left to do. She weighed just 1 lb 15 oz. But the first words that met her ears were my wife yelling "She's perfect!" Then I yelled "Happy Birthday!" It was a celebration. With lots of yelling. We are so thankful for science. We are so thankful for medicine. And all the badass heroes that work in the NICU watching over these tiny warriors. Our daughter has doubled her weight already and continues to grow and grow. Our hearts are filled with hope. Normally I wouldn't post something so personal, but I know that I have gotten so much encouragement by reading about other parents that went through this. Seeing pictures of their healthy kids makes my wife and I a little less terrified. And so if you are on your NICU journey now, I send you strength and courage. Let's all walk through this together. I am so lucky. We have been lifted up by our friends and families. And I am so proud of our brave daughter who fights so hard. And thrilled to be partners with my beautiful and fearless wife.
