Reading chair. A year ago my dad died of covid. This was his chair. It used to sit in his study, a nicotine tanned west-facing bookcase-lined room with an amazing swirly 1970s carpet. He'd smoke Dunhills and read, with our dogs at his feet, shafts of evening sun cutting the haze setting the mad carpet ablaze. I have lots of memories of my dad in a chair reading. This one is an Edwardian captains chair and it had seen much better days, its springs shot, its brown boucle shredded by various of our cats. By good fortune my neighbour @theoddchairco build chairs, and their craftsmen have worked their restorative magic. My dads chair has been given a new lease of life. Now I sit in it and read, and it brings his memory close. It is my favourite chair.
