Learning about Neurographics (specific drawing and coloring to wire and create new neural connections and trim away unhelpful ones) and I wanted to share this easy quick exercise! I added some more to it from my other practices.
If youโre stressed about something, take 2 pieces of paper out and a pencil (a smooth writing pen or marker works too.)
On the first sheet, take a breath in, and for no more than 3 seconds get all the stress onto the page in (hopefully without ripping the paper but no big if it does) with that pencil, a scribbled mess, as you breathe out.
Then inhale and rip it up, crumple it, throw it in the recycling as you exhale.
Take the next piece of paper and start drawing circles. Just all sizes and all over the page, swooping, loose hand, circles upon circles. Notice how your breath changes and your body feels.
When your breath is flowing and your body is relaxed, you can stop making circles.
Now flip the page over and write out one small step you can take to effect what was causing you stress. Make the call, the appointment, do one small late assignment, and small and comfortable action to take a step, not run up the whole staircase.
If you still feel good and can do more, go for it. If not, make a plan to take the next steps.
Works with kids, and with cravings for those recovering from addiction.
May this be of service to all who need it ๐
