Let's talk about having a case of the F**kits.
"I was doing so well! Working out, meditating, eating well, protecting my sleep hygiene. Then (insert big or small challenge here - someone said something mean, there was a hurricane that destroyed part of my property, I had major surgery, someone passed away, I lost my job, I got an unexpected bill in the mail. . .) and I dropped all that and ate crap and stopped all my self care practices."
I call this a case of the F**kits. "I'm going through a lot, I'm gonna eat this brownie. F**kit."
A F**kit is an old story: "I don't deserve to take care of myself"
A F**kit is a lie "Eating this Snickers will make me feel better."
A F**kit is a lack of trust in yourself to take care of you "I never stick to these plans anyway. Might as well go for the old familiar pasta, and screw meditating tonight."
But we know the Truth.
Eating well, getting in some movement, drinking water, meditation - all of these things make it EASIER to deal with the challenges.
Not doing these things actually ADDS stress to the challenging times.
One day you wake up and realize that this perceived "effort" it takes to not use food as a drug and to take care of yourself is a lie. It takes more effort to deal with the aftermath of a F**kit.
And to make new, good habits effortless, we need to practice, practice, practice them. We need to change the old stories and lies to new stories and the Truth.
Big challenges are so good at showing us who we really are, and what we can become.
Use them wisely.
Don't use them as an excuse to shrink.
Don't ever say F**kit about your importance, and your value, and your worthiness again. Ever.
