I honor this man today. Art Mastro. Son of Italian immigrants. He signed up for the Marines during WW2 at age 19 because his family was so poor. He was 4th Division Marine, he fought in the Pacific; Roi-Namur, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. Purple Heart recipient which, if you ask him about today his response is simply "hey, I was lucky I didn't die that day." In other words my grandfather is a bad ass. He laughs when I tell him he's a walking piece of history. Not many guys his age left. He's 91 years young and still sharp as ever and full of stories. They don't make me like they use to.
