The whole Ecolint community is deeply saddened to learn today of the death of Mr. Kofi Annan, who was a highly valued member of the Governing Board of Ecolint (1981-'83), before becoming Secretary General of the United Nations, and later founding the Kofi Annan Foundation.

Director General Dr David Hawley notes: "Kofi Annan was an outstanding embodiment of the important humanitarian values which we espouse at Ecolint. His tireless work towards conflict resolution, which won ...him the Nobel Prize for peace, and his personal initiative leading to the creation of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, are exceptional legacies, but just two examples of his impact to make the world a better place for future generations. We are very proud to count him as a member of the Ecolint community, and join countless others around the world in sending our deepest sympathies to his family and friends at this sad time."
