On April 30, 2015 His Excellency Cenio Lewis, High Commissioner of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to the United Kingdom presented Letters of Credence to His Excellency Michael D. Huggins, President of the Republic of Ireland, a formality that confirms him as new Non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Ireland.
In his brief address at the ceremony, the Ambassador conveyed greetings from the Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne to the President of the Republic of Irel...and for his personal well being and that of the people of the Republic of Ireland. In addition, he expressed the need for continuation of the good bilateralrelations that exist between both countries be strengthened and further developed.
At the ceremony, the following Officials were present: Mr. Tom Hayes, T.D. Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries; Mr. Conor O’ Raghallaigh, Deputy Secretary General to the President and Mr. Barrie Robinson, Political Director, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
His Excellency, during his visit, made courtesy calls on several high Officials from the various Ministries to discuss matters in the sectors of Tourism, Construction of the International Airport, Climate change and its effects in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines over recent years, Education, scholarships, Energy and the recruitment of Nurses.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the Republic of Ireland established diplomatic relations on December 10, 2013.
