What is one of the current treasures on display at the Museum of Lands Mapping and Surveying that is helping to celebrate an important milestone?
It is a bronze bust of Augustus Charles Gregory created by prominent Brisbane artist Oscar Fristrom in 1905. On display for many years at the Freemasons’ Gregory Lodge in Cairns, in 2018 it was kindly donated to the Museum of Lands, Mapping and Surveying. Gregory was a leading mason who was proclaimed the Provincial District Grand Master of Queensland Lodges in 1863. He retained this title until his death.
Visit the Museum of Land, Mapping and Surveying to view this impressive bust and learn more of Augustus Charles Gregory.
