Demand for BENGALI as CLASSICAL language
This demand must be made soon. As lies allowed to continue for long is accepted as true.It is surprising to think that our neighbour state Orissa can pick up a quarrel with West Bengal which never did anything wrong to Orissa. Govt. Of India has recognised Tamil,Malayalam,Telegu, Kannada,Sanaskrit and recently Oriya language as classical languages of India. While making the demand for recognition of Oriya language as one of the classical languages of India,Govt.of Orissa claimed that Oriya language alone originated from CHARJAPADA and Bengali and Assamya and other eastern languages were origined from Oriya language dismissing the Bengalees' claim of CHARJAPADA as the oldest literature of Bengali language. This claim of Orissa absurd and historically wrong because :
1. No historian ever found exact date of origin of Oriya,Bengali,Maithili or Assamya languages. CHARJAPADA was the common ancestor of these four languages, developed between 800 and 1400 AD.
2. From Encyclopaedia of Indian Literature by Amaresh Datta it is clearly known that Bengali Sidhacharyas named Shabarpa, Kukkuripa,Bhusukirpa etc living in different parts Bengal wrote these Budhist devotional songs named CHARJAPADA during the period of 8th and12th century AD. Therefore,Bengalees can legally claim CHARJAPADA is the earliest Bengali literature.
3. Acharya Suniti Kumar Chaterjee in his Origin of Bengali Language stated that CHARJAPADA was the oldest Bengali literature.Dr.Sukumar Sen and Haraprasad Shastri had the same opinion.
4. Prof.Dr.Md Shahidullah in his research on CHARJAPADA in Sorbonne University of France concluded that earliest origin of Bengali language was CHARJAPADA which was written at about 7th century AD.He also stated that Bengali language was also partly formed out of Gouria language and spoken languages of different Tribes.
It is unfortunate for us that Govt of Orissa after it's attack on the origin of Bengali language, targeted RASOGOLLA of Bengal claiming that it was invenvented by Oriyas
