Yesterday I lost my father Jay Curtis. He was 67. He suffered from ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease, the same ailment that affects Stephen Hawking). As much as he fought to the end, defying his body's ailments to traverse the San Diego boardwalk in his wheel-chair (mainly because he wanted to go to Woody's to get some coffee) the time finally came. He went peacefully, his last words (Which he wrote on his ipad with his bad hand): "Remember I went smiling."
Jay did many incredible th...ings in his life: Pioneered the art of ridiculing bad films on DISASTERPIECE THEATER, writing and producing promos for CBS, NBC, FOX, etc, directing David Letterman, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Cheech Marin, and so many incredible people, winning a Writer's Guild Award in 2004, producing a movie with his friend Lou Cortese called 75-0: The Documentary, being a teacher, even teaching me everything from how to throw a football to how to produce videos (he has had a hand in producing nearly every video I've released, including HOME). But perhaps his proudest moment, aside from being the best father a boy could ask for, was producing two books of poetry in the last couple years of his life, which chronicled his life with ALS: IN AND OUT OF DREAMING and FLAWS IN THE ROAD (both of which are available on Amazon.com) I encourage all my friends, in lieu of flowers or cards, please buy a copy of his books and keep his memory alive:

I don't know what else I can say. I love you Dad, thank you for everything you did. I would not be the man I am today without you. I'll see you in my dreams.
