Fast facts on Quadrantids:
Peak: Early morning hours of January 3. (local time)
Visibility: Best for those in the northern hemisphere, though Quadrantids can be seen by observers at latitudes north of 51 degrees south.
... Max rate: 120/hour. Light from waning gibbous Moon will wash away fainter Quadrantids so don't expect this. The peak rate of the Quadrantids has varied between 60 and 200, so its peak is not as consistent as other showers such as the Geminids.
Parent body: Thought to be asteroid 200 EH1. Some studies believe this asteroid is a piece of a comet that broke apart centuries ago.
Velocity: Quadrantids will hit the atmosphere travelling 41 kilometers per second, or about 90,000 miles per hour!
We hope you have luck observing the Quadrantids this year!
