Something a little different for #ThrowbackThursday: A little history on our PACV (Patrol Air Cushioned Vehicle). Six of these hovercraft were built for service in Vietnam: three for the Navy as PACVs and three for the Army that were more heavily modified and known as ACVs. Two of the Army ACVs were destroyed in combat. One survives today at the U.S. Army Transportation Museum in Ft. Eustis, Virginia.
The only surviving Navy PACV was acquired by Yanks in 2015. It served with both the US and Canadian Coast Guards before being retired from service. Have you been by to see it yet?
