This idea came to life thanks to Earl Springer (store manager in Hagerstown, Maryland, at the time). Sheetz sold fresh, sliced deli meat in stores, and Earl expanded on this idea to create made-to-order food. He created slips of paper for customers to write their sandwich order on and specify their meat, cheese and toppings of choice. Little did Earl know that in the years to come, M•T•O® food would become such a hit and truly shape the future of our business at Sheetz.
