Statement by 44th Ward Alderman Tom Tunney, Chair of the City Council LGBT Caucus:
Lori Lightfoot has been a longtime friend and I'm excited to endorse her for Chicago Mayor. With her strong background in both the public and private sectors, Lori is smart and capable and brings new perspective and a fresh start to leading our city. I know she will work on behalf of all Chicagoans to address our civic challenges - improving our schools, addressing public safety, and investing... in our neighborhoods - and will surround herself with the best and brightest people to move our city forward. Throughout my tenure, I've been proud to advocate for the needs of the business community and LGBTQ Chicagoans and will continue to do so in the next City Council under Lori's steady hand. Chicago is a world class city I know Lori will focus on the right issues to help us prepare for the future and keep our city a great place to live, work, run a business, and raise a family. As the first openly gay alderman in Chicago and Chair of the City Council LGBTQ caucus, I know this election could make history and I'm proud to support Lori as she strives to break that glass ceiling.
