It's International Marconi Day! Today we celebrate the Marconi Wireless Station which operated on Sable Island for many years in the early 20th century.

The fascinating history of the wireless station was captured in Thomas H Raddall’s historical fiction from 1920, The Nymph and the Lamp. Filmmakers Chris Zimmer and Jennifer Holness are busy adapting the story for a CBC Television drama series in development titled “The Wild”. It will be set around life at the Marconi Telegraph Station on Sable Island.
