Today's mission was paged out as a 23 year old male skier who had fallen down a a snowfield maybe 300 feet, impacted the rocks at the bottom and was down and non-responsive.
The incident was north of Rollins Pass and actually in Boulder County. The snowfield is known as Challenger Glacier and is located in Jasper Creek.
We coordinated with Rocky Mountain Rescue in Boulder, initiated a Flight for Life reconnaissance flight (which was unable to locate the party) and maintained contact with the reporting party via cell.
A field team hiked in from Rollins Pass and made contact with the subject who had suffered some head trauma, but was stable and mobile. He was escorted to private vehicle at Rollins Pass.
Photos show the snowfield and subject being escorted back to Rollins Pass.
