San Rafael Pacifics Embark on New Journey, Announce Departure from Pacific Association
With the ever-changing landscape of minor league baseball, the San Rafael Pacifics have decided to leave the Pacific Association.
Coming off another championship season, their 5th in 8 years, it has become necessary for the Pacifics to pursue new challenges and new opportunities. The community is ready for something bigger in San Rafael and the team’s ownership group is pursuing options to ...bring better quality of life entertainment to San Rafael and Marin.
“We’re excited about the potential for a new independent league in Northern California and the revitalization it will bring to the community. While working with the city and all other important parties, we will keep our fans, sponsors and players abreast of developments regarding this new journey,” said Gabriel Suarez, majority owner and President of the Pacifics, in a statement earlier this week.
For more than a half-century, Albert Park has been the heart of San Rafael and gathering point for the Marin community. Generations of ballplayers have been raised on that field and almost every Marin resident has at least one story and memory to tell as a fan or player on those hollowed grounds. The tradition needs to continue, it must. This community is ready for something more, and the time has come….
