Mayor Holden Names David Guillory Interim DPW Director
Mayor-President Melvin L. “Kip” Holden has named Chief Operations Engineer David R. Guillory, P.E. as Interim Director of the Department of Public Works, replacing William Daniel who was named Chief Administrative Officer. Guillory will serve in the position until the current reorganization of the department is complete at which time a search will be conducted to fill the position permanently.
Guillory, who has been wi...th the department since 2003, previously served as Assistant Public Works Director of Maintenance, Special Assistant to the Director and as a civil engineer in the Subdivision Office. He has experience working with the local engineering and contractor firms and has been integral in the department’s work in street operations, drainage, wastewater treatment, architectural services, public building maintenance and storm debris management. Prior to that, Guillory worked in the Public Works Section of Carter-Burgess, Inc. in Dallas and interned with the U.S. Department of Interior Mineral Management Service in Camarillo, CA.
He is a professional engineer licensed to practice in Louisiana and Alabama, serves on the board of the Louisiana Solid Waste Association, and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Guillory is a graduate of University High School in Baton Rouge and received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Southern University in 2002.
“David has been a key team member on our largest DPW projects and has earned the respect of the engineers and contractors that we interface with on a daily basis,” said Mayor Holden. “In his current position, he has been very involved in the reorganization plan that is being developed, and we feel is a solid choice to serve as Interim Director.”
