On the 8th of October 2015, 9 determined members of the Defence Forces successfully completed the first module of a 40 week selection and qualification course for service within the prestigious Army Ranger Wing. Over the previous 3 weeks, the students proved their determination and self motivation during practical and mental chall...enges set by the Special Forces unit, carrying half their body weight, trekking over 250km on various assessments and concluding with an additional 65km loaded march in the Dublin & Wicklow mountain ranges. While numbers vary, typically 85% of those that start the A.R.W Selection Course will not to make it to the final day.
