May 30, 2015 is hereby proclaimed “GAY ASIAN PACIFIC ALLIANCE MEN’S CHORUS DAY” in San Francisco – Edwin M. Lee, Mayor

Whereas, the Gay Asian Pacific Alliance (GAPA) Men’s Chorus was formed in 1989 to provide a showcase for the vocal music talents of gay and bisexual API men, allowing community members to explore and develop their skills in a nurturing and supportive environment; and
Whereas, in addition to lending their voices to many civic events through the years, the GAPA... Men’s Chorus has been particularly effective in outreaching to the mainstream Asian Pacific population, as well as the broader LGBT community, highlighting diversity and visibility with every appearance; and
Whereas, as an ethnically-based gay choral group performing in its own productions and at diverse community events throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond for over 25 years, the GAPA Men’s Chorus has become the longest lasting and most enduring organization of its kind; now
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Edwin M. Lee, Mayor of the City and County of San Francisco, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary concert, do hereby proclaim May 30, 2015 as… “GAY ASIAN PACIFIC ALLIANCE MEN’S CHORUS DAY” in San Francisco!
