Love story of my grandparents: My grandma met my grandpa when she was 15, dated for 2 years and when she was 17, they got separated because of the war. They were engaged before the war. Grandpa went to defend Indonesia from Japan, got captured and brought to Japan become a prisoner of war. Meanwhile, Grandma was kept in a prison camp in Indonesia by the Japanese who finally occupied Indonesia - even though she was born in Indonesia, she was mixed Indonesian-Dutch with a Dutch... last name and the Japanese locked up all the Dutch to reduce threat of their ruling. My grandpa was mixed Indonesian-Dutch as well. After the war, my grandma was 21 and released from the camp, she was 4 years apart from my grandpa, not knowing if he's still alive.
Meanwhile my grandpa being released as a POW from Japan happened to meet a pilot friend who agreed to bring him back to Indonesia. Back in Indonesia, first thing that grandpa did was to ask around and look for his betrothed. They finally got reunited, and got married. Their first born was my father... :)
