I look forward to chairing the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative's Policy Advisory Board, a group of volunteers representing a cross section of American society, and I want to thank Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan for asking me to take on this exciting role. This does not impact my continued work at KKR, which I love.
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative is an historic commitment by Mark and Priscilla to meaningfully impact the world by expanding educational opportunities through pers...onalized learning and promoting research on life-saving medical advances. The Initiative's potential for mobilizing resources, empowering individuals, contributing to public policy development and directing investment in important and hopeful ways that will improve the quality of life for millions is virtually limitless.
Policy Advisory Board members will share a strong belief in excellent education for every child, expanding opportunity so every individual may reach his or her potential, and a commitment to improving the human condition by discovering cures to debilitating diseases. By assembling a diverse group of advisors and experts to collaborate on the challenges we face, we believe we can have an even greater impact, and we will be announcing members of the board shortly.
Mark and Priscilla have put together a world class team to lead the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative's focus areas, including Jim Shelton on education, Cori Bargmann on medical research, Brian Pinkerton on technology and David Plouffe on policy, advocacy and storytelling. I look forward to working with Mark, Priscilla, David and the entire team as we build a better future for generations to come.
