Sadly, my great friend Hani Naser passed away this week. I met him at a private party at Camp Wildwood, many years ago. We talked for hours about our mutual love of traditional acoustic World music. Later I joined his 10-piece contemporary Arabic music group, where we played many festivals and events from San Diego to San Francisco. Hani also performed live with the best musicians in the world, including: Jackson Browne, Carlos Santana, Bonnie Raitt, Ry Cooder, Steve Miller, Los Lobos, David Lindley, Violent Femmes, Don Henley, Jennifer Warnes, Paco de Lucía, Brian Ritchie, Quick Silver Messenger Service, John Hiatt, Warren Zevon, Ruben Blades, Lou Reed, The Blind Boys of Alabama, and many others.
And he was the nicest guy ever! He'll be missed by all, and I'll miss him greatly. I'm so fortunate to have known him. RIP Hani Naser.
