Bestune E05 EV unveiled in China
Bestune, fka Besturn, is a brand under FAW. The Bestune E05 is a new compact electric car, classified as an MPV.
It debuted today at the Haikou International New Energy Vehicle and Connected Mobility Show.
... I really like how it looks. Chinese brands are finally looking for ways to use the advantages of an EV platform in design: an electric car doesn't have to look like a traditional car. The Bestune E05 is similar in concept to the recently launched BYD D1.
The E05 has a short front, the wheels are way into the corners, and the rear is just brilliantly different. There is a sliding door on the right and a normal door on the left. Power comes from a 190 hp / 320 NM electric motor mated to a 61 kWh battery, good for a 450 km NEDC range.
The interior is not as funky as the exterior. A tad too much gray plastics and basic-looking buttons. But the steering wheel has a cool shape and the vents are nicely integrated in the dashboard.
The Bestune E05 will launch on the Chinese car market later this quarter.
