The more brands the better, we always say. And we got another new one. They are called Modern Auto, established in Shanghai in 2018. Their first car will be unveiled soon, called the Modern A.
The Modern A is a good looking compact hatchback-crossover-SUV. The company says its design was inspired by cats. On their website, I found the following text (translated from Chinese):
"Original genealogy-style cat lamp design, the image comes from cat ears. Humans can hear the sound frequency of 20,000 Hz, dogs can hear 38,000 Hz, but can't distinguish between high and low, cats can hear 50,000 to 60,000 Hz, and can quickly pinpoint positions. MODERN AUTO's headlight design is full of personality, which means that it is as agile and quick as a cat."
Not sure what they want to say with the sound frequency thing, perhaps it is about some fancy new autonomous-driving system?
Modern A, size: 4463/1823/1551, wheelbase 2700. Charging takes 30 minutes from 30% to 80% battery, on a fast charger. Range is "400-600 km". I assume that's with two different battery packs.
The interior looks great and spacious, with a large central screen, a digital instrument panel, and another screen in front of the front-passenger, The mirrors on the interior-pic car are red.
I also found two pictures of their design studio, showing they have at least one 1:1 design prototype ready, with a cool (not real) Shanghai EV license plate.
Modern Auto is based in a cool old-industrial building but they have big plans for a big green-energy car factory. It all seems promising. Let's see when we see the car!
