Doctor Nicolas Valcik is the newest black belt of the Texas Tech Martial Arts Club. He received his Shodan in Judo at the last Judo practice of 2021 from Sensei Simmons. He started his martial arts training over forty years ago in Judo and Henke Ryu Jujitsu under Sensei Tamura and continued under Sensei Webb in the Dallas area. Injury and moving to West Virginia to start a new job forced him to drop out of martial arts before Sensei Webb could promote him to Shodan. After mov...ing to Lubbock he searched for a Judo dojo to continue his Judo and Martial Arts career and feels fortunate to have found the Texas Tech Martial Arts Club. And we are fortunate to have him. His next goal is to become a certified Judo coach by the end of the spring semester. He is the first of several who will soon be promoted to Shodan from Texas Tech Martial Arts under the direction of Sensei Simmons.
