PESCO is one of the key EU defence initiatives; together with the Coordinated Annual Review on Defence and the European Defence Fund.
It combines cooperative defence projects and binding commitments from its 25 participating Member States. Member States can decide in which projects they want to participate.
The 25 member states participating in PESCO are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden.
