ecture, Hamish Bowles will discuss the impact of Balenciaga’s native Spain—its regional dress, cultural and religious traditions and powerful artistic history—on the couturier’s work, exploring how Balenciaga translated these influences into his designs, both overtly and subliminally, through the decades. Bowles will touch on his own experiences curating two monographic exhibitions on the designer, his discoveries tracing the designer’s personal history in Spain and his own collection of Balenciaga works.
