over 8,000 houses had collapsed, and eight factories were damaged in Funing County, one of the worst-hit areas. Power supplies were also knocked out in some districts. President Xi Jinping has directed authorities to make all-out efforts in rescuing the injured and reducing the mortality rate. Meanwhile, Premier Li Keqiang ordered local authorities to step up weather monitoring and forecasting.
