d 2/3 of the Universe in 1998. That’s when mysterious “dark energy,” the missing 2/3, was credited with accelerating the expansion of the Universe. Unfortunately, we do not have many clues about the nature of the dark energy.  It might be a modern version of the "cosmological constant," an idea that Albert Einstein invented in 1916 and rejected in 1934.  If he had stuck to his guns, he might have become a famous physicist!
