I happened to be there to work with NutritionFacts.org in videographing the premier of Dr Greger’s latest and monumental talk on “Evidence-Based Weight Loss: Live Presentation” https://youtu.be/EpRrD58Ah3Q for his upcoming book “How Not to Diet”. Immediately after his presentation the award ceremony for the Vegan Hall of Fame began.
Someone on the inside told me he would be getting the award and that it would be a surprise. So, of course we kept the cameras rolling :)

WHY THIS MEANS SO MUCH TO ME :)
Dr Greger was the first person to really help me make sense of nutrition. His work, humor, commitment, courage, intelligence, passion, organization, and dedication is in perfect timing to accelerate the global paradigm shift into more open, honest education on healthful living. His work is at the core of why I became and advocate.
Because this award was a surprise and I didn’t know about it until last minute I really had to compensate in post by acquiring as many assets from others as possible and doing A LOT of editing. Thank you all for your contributions to this work, I couldn’t have done it without you!
Of the thousand or so videos I’ve uploaded over the years, this is my most cherished. In the end it’s only 39 minutes and seems simple enough. But, it took a few months to get these assets from everyone. Then after synching and cutting it all together, trying to match colors and exposures between cameras, tweaking audio as needed, and adding all I could to the presentation I thought I was finished; that was about 8 days ago, finally finished today.
Eight days ago, after rendering the project and test watching it full screen, I realized there were two significant spots on one of the main subjects that I had to remove. At first I was heart broken. I thought there is just no way I could do this. I thought all this was going to be ruined because the two spots were just too distracting.
I couldn't give up though. So I started trying to see just how fast I could remove these dots. I ended up spending countless hours each day removing the spots throughout 31 minutes of the 38 minutes, spanning over 30 thousand frames. Some days I felt like it was going to take the rest of my life! Lol. But, each day I learned something a little new and kept getting better at it!
Watching the video now it may not look like a lot of work. But this is literally the most I’ve worked on a single video; at least as far as keying, masking, rendering previews, rewatching, reworking, over and over and over, intermittently throughout each day into some nights until 2 and 3 am! It was all I could think about and do. And I knew it would be worth it.
So, now I have perfected a new set of editing skills, I know the limits of this software and how far I can push my computer, and I have this wonderful video to be proud of because at least I know I gave it my all. 😊
