In 2017 two major hurricanes, Irma and Maria, caused catastrophic damages in the Caribbean Area. USDA-NRCS was one of the first federal agencies that responded to the emergency. NRCS employees detailed to the disaster zone used creativity and innovative approaches to establish partnerships with local and federal agencies and successfully implemented EWP program in the Caribbean Area.
