"The Tracks of My Tears" is The
...
Miracles' most recognized, most honored, and most covered song. The group's signature song, it reached #1 on the Billboard "R&B Chart" and #16 on the "Hot 100." Marv Tarplin's guitar licks in the song's intro have become instantly recognizable worldwide, and are among the most famous in pop music history.
Special honors include:
* The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame named the song on their list alphabetical list of the "500 Songs that Shaped Rock & Roll."
* The song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2007.
* Rolling Stone Magazine placed the song at #50 on their list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time."
On 3/25/2012 I received a request from williamg2552 asking me to post a link to a tribute website to honor departed Miracles member, MARV TARPLIN. Here is the URL:
http://www.marvintarplin.com/index.html
williamg2552 adds, "Marv Tarplin will be inducted with the rest of the original Miracles into the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME in Cleveland on 4/12/2011. Smokey Robinson will do the actual induction of his group."
Thanks you williamg2552 for letting us know about your website. Marv was a long-time, regular and consistent member of the Miracles who never really got the recognition he deserved. Many people would even say that he wasn't "actually" a member of the Miracles when in fact, he'd been with them almost from the beginning.
Here's a little trivia: What were the only two albums that featured all six of The Miracles, including Marv Tarplin, on the front cover?
You can read a biography that I wrote (well, work in progress atm) at http://www.mp3lyrics.org/s/smokey-robinson/
Look after the discography and after the thumbnail pictures and comments section for the biography. There will be a hyperlink to see the entire article at the end of the visible text.
Answer: They were, Cookin' with The Miracles (Tamla #T-223) from 1961, and I'll Try Something New (Tamla #T-230) from 1962.
