ised for the first time on the 27 April 1994 at the Houses of Parliament in Cape Town. The anthems of the country, Die Stem van Suid-Afrika is sung while the old flag is being lowered, and Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika and the English version of Die Stem are sung while the new flag is raised.
