OTRE DAME DE PARIS' is a rock-opera adaptation of Victor Hugo's classic novel. Two million people have already watched Quasimodo, Pheobus and Frollo fall in love with Esmerlda, and the tragic destruction that results.
Audiences in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Canada have flocked to see the original French language version since the show opened in September 1998.
When the show's love song 'Belle' was released as a single in France, it stayed at the top of the charts for thirty-three weeks. Meanwhile more than six million copies of the French language cast albums have been sold
The oscar winning lyricist WILL JENNINGS, who wrote the Titanic love theme 'My Heart Will Go On' has adapted the show into English, paving the way for it's West End debut.
Although most of the cast will have been in their roles for more than a year and a half by the time the show opens in London, the new version of the show features two new cast members.
Australia's biggest selling female singer, TINA ARENA plays the beautiful gypsy Esmerelda. Her version of the ballad 'LIVE FOR THE ONE I LOVE' is to be released as a single in March, a few weeks after the soundtrack album hits the UK shops.
The man Esmerelda is in love with, PHEOBUS, the captain of the guard who is engaged to another woman, is played by STEVE BALSAMO. West End audiences will be familiar with him as the star of ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER'S recent Production of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR.
The other principal characters have all become household names in France thanks to the phenomenal success of the musical, and while they now have solo careers of their own, they will be appearing in the London show.
The faithfull but deformed Quasimodo is played by Montreal born GAROU, while the troubled priest Frollo, the third man to fall for Esmerelda, is brought to life by DANIEL LAVOIE.
BRUNO PELLETIER plays the street poet who narrates the tale, while LUCK MERVIL plays the rebel leader Clopin.
The musical has just opened in Las Vegas, and will launch at London's Dominion theatre in May.
