nd brick streets filled with cozy cottages to large homes. The oldest surviving neighborhood in Indianapolis, it was home to the famous Hoosier poet James Whitcomb Riley. Join us for a visual tour of some of the neighborhood’s architectural gems with photos and stories. Our journey, will take us from its early history though its revitalization in the 1970s and 1980s following a deep post WWII decline, to the charming and inviting neighborhood it is today. The presenter, a Propylaeum Board Member, is Marjorie Kienle, who restored a home in Lockerbie Square with her husband in 1976.
This event was the third in a new series presented by the Propylaeum focusing on different historic neighborhoods of Indianapolis. From Meridian Place, to Ransom Place, to Lockerbie, and more.
