A CAD study of a very compact two-stroke toroidal combustion engine having the advantages of a pure air uni-flow scavenging opposed piston engine ( minimum heat-loss for maximum fuel economy) with
...
a very interesting power to weight ratio.
The pistons are fixed to the central rotating swinging beams and are moving free in the cylinder liners. No friction or wear due to pistonslap or sidethrust , only compression piston rings. All other mechanical components are simple to lubricate rotating and pivoting joints and are fully in vibration free balance.
The drawing is 4 times 2 x 500 cc = 4000cc engine with 70mm pistons., giving theoretical power as a 8000cc four-stroke. The weight according inventor-cad-program is 300 kg.
If the engine can provide , as in a motorcycle fourstroke, let's say 100 kW per 1000cc, then we have a 800 kW for a 300 kg engine !! A diesel could have a power to weight ratio of 2kW for 1kg.
