Fifteen years to the day of the passing of the legendary guitarist and vocalist Jerry (Jerome J.) Garcia. It should be noted that the last public performance by both Garcia and the Grateful Dead was on July 9th , 1995 in Chicago Illinois - Home of the Cubs... San Francisco was the birthplace and home of Garcia during the early Grateful Dead years and home to the Warfield Theatre where Garcia performed almost every month with his side band The Jerry Garcia Band for the final 6 years of his life... Lesh, Weir & Pehrson (formerly of the band Box Set) have been keeping the Dead's flame alive with the band Furthur who has been touring America the past two years.... The Dead cover band Cryptical performed before the game on top of the Dug Out and also at a pre-game private party that also featured speaches by former Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart and Basketball player and sportscaster Bill Walton along with a guest appearance by Carolyn Garcia one of Jerry's daughters who also was honored to throw out the opening game ball to begin a game that ended in the Giant's favor 11 innings later!!!
