EDSA action in solidarity with Baguio citizens opposed to the tree-balling of 182 Pine and Japanese Alder trees in SM Baguio.
We were drowned out with a powerful sound system, and were "kettled" - surrounded by security personnel and shoved out of the premises. In the process of dispersal, an activist was punched, a photo-documentor was strangled, and the protest's sound system and a mobile phone was severely damaged. We condemn this act of violence as a manifestation of insincerity of Henry Sy and SM in collusion with Pres. Aquino's DENR towards environmental preservation.
