With Ray Danniels' SRO management behind them, Meissner and Currie stayed in Toronto and formed Beatles tribute band Liverpool in the spring of 1972 with guitarist David Moyles and guitarist/keyboardist Rick Pearson. Liverpool was quite likely the very first Beatles tribute act. It was this founding line up of musicians that performed at the world famous Whiskey a Go-Go in Los Angeles in 1973 and at the first Beatles festival, Beatlefest ’75, in New York City. Legend has it that they were the inspiration for the producers of the Broadway show "Beatlemania!" in New York.
Danniels' Taurus Records released several singles filled with Meissner original tunes. "Dolly", a clear nod to their Beatles influence, cracked the Canadian charts briefly in 1975. With some personnel changes in 1976 - including the addition of Cat guitarist/singer Gary O'Connor, the band would later mutate into Aerial and be signed to Danniels' next record label Anthem.
