Is religion fair game for an ad? Not according to Australia's Hindu community.
Meat & Livestock Australia, an industry marketing group, created an ad featuring several religious figures, including Je
...
sus, Buddha, and even L. Ron Hubbard. The ad is meant to sell lamb as the meat everyone can eat. The problem? The ad shows the Hindu god Ganesha, who's known as a vegetarian.
The Hindu community wants the commercial banned, saying it's wrong to portray Ganesha eating meat. The commercial managed to offend and ignore Hindus, but did seem to be sensitive to Muslims. It was careful not to show the Prophet Muhammad, saying he "could not make it."
