Many of the BNP's rallies took place in this constituency and in 1990, Eddy Butler formed the 'Rights for Whites' campaign against mass immigration into the city- this march was not formed by skinhead bootboys, it was formed in community spirit by many English patriotic families. This march was formed against an anti-English racist attack on John Stoner by a group of knife attacking Bangladeshis; this was formed because the courts threw the case out and dismissed the attack as racist. This infuriated many locals so along went the 'Rights for Whites' campaign who marched for justice.
