Anyways, Buzz 105.7 (WBZZ Albany) began a stunt with Christmas music on November 1, 2010, rebranding entirely as "Santa 105.7" with no mentions to its original AC format (which was a failure against dominant B95 (WYJB) and 99.5 The River (WRVE)) or normal branding, fueling speculation that the station would change after Christmas. Early speculation included classic rock to compliment sister station WQBK (Q103.9) and go after WPYX 106.5, oldies to compete against 98.3 WTRY, and also a Top 40 format to compete against market leader WFLY 92.3. And so it did flip at midnight on January 3, 2011 to 105.7 Crush FM (with the new WQSH calls)... here's the last few songs of Santa 105.7 and the first few songs on 105.7 Crush FM. I really like this 90s Hits format, but they really need to focus more on the old-school hip-hop, R&B and dance music, like WKTU in New York City (in fact, this station might just evolve into a Rhythmic CHR in a couple years) :D (update September 2013: the station has flipped once again, to Mainstream Top 40 with the "Pop Crush" name) Needless to say, this was a fairly uneventful format flip, unfortunately. Unlike when Magic 100.9 (WKLI) changed to 100.9 The Bridge in February 2010 with about an hour of stunting, nothing special of note happened other than the second, third and fourth songs of the new format all having "Crush" in their name. (On a side note, I always thought 100.9 should've been the one to get the country format currently found on Cat Country 104.9... 104.9 would be better off with a satellite-fed Classic Hits or Urban AC format :) The WBZZ calls, formerly on 93.7 Pittsburgh (now a sports station, KDKA-FM "93.7 The Fan"), would later re-emerge in the Pittsburgh market on the former WZPT (Star 100.7), about two weeks or so after 105.7 Albany dumped them. Kinda ironic that Albany dumped them too late, and now the original WBZZ is a sports station.
