lem of keeping it fresh over long distances. In 1801, we brewed our first export porter. Destined for the West Indies (as the Caribbean Islands were called back then), we brewed this beer with more hops and higher gravity to preserve the beer as it made its journey overseas. This beer was the direct precursor to Guinness Foreign Extra Stout, which to this day remains our most popular Guinness in Africa and Asia. It’s long been sought out by connoisseurs in the States for its bittersweet complexity and richness.
