ors, and artists to foster greater appreciation of works of art. This year, Met curator Kelly Baum will join in conversation with Wangechi Mutu, whose sculptures, The NewOnes, will free Us, have graced The Met's historic façade since September 2019. Together, they'll explore the artist's creative process as well as the works' presentation, iconography, and cultural and art historical references. Their discussion will also open out onto current events and the role of art institutions in promoting equity and justice. Learn more about the sculptures below:

Generous contributions from longtime friends, who have joined this event for 15 years, recently helped the Museum acquire one of Wangechi Mutu’s façade sculptures, The Seated III (2019), for its permanent collection. Women and the Critical Eye has never been a ticketed event, so we hope you might consider making a gift to help support the Museum and the purchase of works by women artists. We would be thrilled to have your support at any level!
