a number of adults and children with cleft lip and cleft palate deformities in the region of Urabá, Colombia. A recent mission facilitated surgeries on a total of 46 people. Olga Lucia Pelaez, of FundaUniban states, "The participating medical professionals from the US, along with the support of the other organizations involved, selflessly provided their resources and time to this wonderful cause." She continues, "Helping those who suffer from a cleft lip or palate deformity is only one of the many social causes that we are proud to be a part of and look forward to the future of this mission."
Dayka & Hackett, LLC, teamed up with Disney On Ice and Jewel-Osco stores in Chicago to encourage more grape consumption among Chicago youths. Upon purchase of Disney-branded grapes in Chicago-area Jewel-Osco stores this past August and September, consumers received a coupon for a buy-one-get-one kid's ticket to Disney On Ice's Mickey and Minnie's Magical Journey at the United Center and brought in over 1,000 redemptions. Tim Dayka, partner at Dayka & Hackett, states, "Cross promotions in the produce aisle are a great way to encourage kids to eat more fresh produce. We were delighted to work with Disney On Ice and Jewel-Osco to build a successful promotion that gives parents a choice they can feel good about and adds value to retailers."
Rene Produce has just added a new 20,000 sq ft, completely refrigerated distribution center to its family, expanding into McAllen, Texas. The facility was completed Dec 2011, and will distributing all of its Winter Vegetable items - Romas, and Beef steak tomatoes, Green and Red Bell Pepper, Slicer and English cucumbers, and eggplant. Jose Humberto Garcia (Hoe-say, Um-bear-to, Garcia), Rene's Chief Operating Officer, states, "We are very excited about our new expansion into McAllen, TX. Our primary goal in operating and managing our own distribution, is to provide the client with the same high level of customer service and value that they have come to expect from Rene Produce in Nogales, AZ."
